Orchestral Concert CDs
Orchestral Concert CDs is a label devoted to performances recorded "live" in the Royal Festival Hall, London and other UK venues, some 40 years ago, by orchestras and chamber groups from Eastern Europe. They are not broadcasts, but carefully restored recordings taken from original master tapes. None of the performances on these CDs have been issued before in any audio format.

Geoffrey Terry, a professional recording engineer made these recordings. His involvement stemmed from meeting with an impresario keen on bringing the best musicians from Eastern Europe to the UK. His recordings were made simply as a "record" of a concert with no thought of publication. Forty plus years later they are of great historical interest, and he created the Orchestral Concert CDs label.
The dynamic range and depth of sound achieved by Geoffrey Terry make these stereo recordings amongst the finest ever made in the Royal Festival Hall. They employ a two microphone technique he devised, going against then current trends of using multi-microphone set-ups. Listen HERE as Geoffrey Terry explains how he formulated his recording technique and installed it into the Royal Festival Hall.
