Sylvie Bodorova

Sylvie Bodorova

With a Slovak-Hungarian father and Czech mother - hence the Hungarian name - Sylvie Bodorova (born 1954) retains Hungarian influences in her music.  She studied in Bratislava, in Brno (Janacek Academy) and in Prague.  Less formally, Sylvie came under the guidence of Franco Donatoni at the Academia Chigiana in Siena, and with Ton de Leeuw in Amsterdam.

In 1996 Sylvie Bodorova formed, together with Czech composers Lubos Fiser, Otmar Macha and Zdenek Lukas, the composing group Quattro.  It is from this period that her works have become some of the most frequently performed by any contemporary composer living in the Czech Republic.
