PK (Per Kristian) Svensen began playing the trombone in his school band. He later studied in Norway, Sweden and London, and since 1995 has been principal trombone of the Malmo Symphony Orchestra, as well as performing with numerous brass ensembles.

Ensemble 96 evolved from the chamber choir of the Oslo Philharmonic, which disbanded in 1996. Oystein Fevang, a soloist with the choir, became director of the new ensemble, now one of the leading Norwegian choral groups. His approach to performance is to seek "an overall timbre of clarity, purity and homogenity which retains a distinctive, personal character."

Steffen Horn, who has Czech connections, was born in 1976 and studied at the Barrat Due Institute of Music in Oslo.

Marianne Thorsen is well known to UK audiences as leader of the Nash Ensemble and a founding member of the Leopold String Trio. By the age of four she was receiving violin lessons at the municipal music school in Trondheim. She later went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London. On Marianne's 2L disc of Mozart Violin Concertos she is accompanied by the Trondheim Solistene directed from the cello by Oyvind Gimse.

Trondheim Solistene formed in 1988. Unusually they do not have a conductor, preferring to work with soloists on a regular basis who include - Anne-Sophie Mutter and Joshua Bell, as well as leading Scandinavian musicians. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to Contemporary, Jazz, Tango and Rock. The orchestras current Artistic Director is cellist Oyvind Gimse.

2L make all their SACD recordings in 5.1 surround + stereo sound using state of the art digital technology. Heard in this format, the listener is placed in the centre of a genuine musical experience that in no way compromises the music for the sake of modern recording techniques. Each 2L SACD is a complete musical universe, enhanced with striking artwork by Morten Lindberg who is also the producer in charge of recordings.
